In 2014, the educational project for the students in eighth grade reached its fifth edition.
On March 25, 2014, the patronage of Municipality of Olgiate Olona has been granted to this website - which has grown and improved as to content and graphics - thanks to the value and the meaning that this tool represents in perpetuating the memory of the plane crash of June 26, 1959, in conformity with the spirit of the Municipal Administration which promotes the commemorative events.
Commemoration of the 55th anniversary of the plane crash
Due to bad weather forecast, the ceremony of June 26, 2014 took place in the town hall of Olgiate Olona at 5.33 p.m. and not in front of the memorial monument as programmed: the ceremony was attended by some relatives of the seventy immortal lives coming from Italy and from the United States of America (some of them being in Olgiate Olona for the first time: they were welcomed by the mayor in the town hall in the morning and during the ceremony they read the international prayer in suffrage in English language), the delegation of Comitato 8 ottobre per non dimenticare committee, the students authors of the ten deserving works (rewarded with a merit certificate, the first three classified received a book coupon offered by Walley Design ingegneria of Olgiate Olona; the Special award 2014 was given to one of the works). The names of the seventy immortal lives were remembered during the ceremony, and the new mayor Giovanni Montano read the commemorative speech (simultaneously translated into English).

On Thursday June 26, 2014, at 3.00 p.m. in the Prepositural St. Stephen and Lawrence church in Olgiate Olona, and on Friday June 27, 2014, at 9.45 a.m. in the St. John the Baptist church in Busto Arsizio, two Masses in English language were celebrated in suffrage for the seventy immortal lives by Father Gary S. Linsky - son of Chester Linsky who perished in the plane crash of June 26, 1959. Father Gary, pastor in Columbia, South Carolina, USA, attended the commemoration of the 55th anniversary together with his mother Jane.

Delegated by the mayor Giovanni Montano, Alberto Colombo represented the town of Olgiate Olona on October 8, 2014, in Milan at the commemoration of the victims of Milan-Linate air disaster, event organized by Comitato 8 ottobre per non dimenticare committee and by the Municipality of Milan. During the ceremony the President of the committee Paolo Pettinaroli made a complaint-appeal so that in Italy there will be freedom to fly safely, directed by people responsible and aware of what they decide.
