In 2018 the educational project inspired to June 26, 1959, in its ninth edition was addressed to all the classes of students in the eighth grade of “Dante Alighieri” school in Olgiate Olona.

Commemoration of 59th anniversary of the plane crash

The commemoration of June 26, 2018, in front of the memorial monument was attended by the relatives of the seventy immortal lives from Italy and USA, by a delegation of Comitato 8 ottobre commettee, by the students in the eighth grade of Olgiate Olona authors of the most deserving works produced in the ninth edition of the educational project in memory of June 26, 1959: all the students were awarded a merit certificate, the best three works were read by the authors who received a book coupon sponsored by Caccia Services of Olgiate Olona.

Delegated by the mayor Giovanni Montano, Alberto Colombo represented the town of Olgiate Olona on October 8, 2018, in Milan at the commemoration of the victims of Milan-Linate air disaster.

With a letter registered in the Municipality of Olgiate Olona, on November 9, 2018, Alberto Colombo communicated to mayor Giovanni Montano the end of the free of charge cooperation with the Municipal Administration for the commemorative events of the plane crash of June 26, 1959 - but not because of Municipal Administration -, his intention to continue his commitment for the memory of June 26, 1959, and that however on June 26, 2019, the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the plane crash will take place in Olgiate Olona; the mayor has been provided with a detailed report of the commemorative events of June 26, 1959, organized from 2008 to 2018.
