The educational project at “Dante Alighieri” school of Olgiate Olona
In order to provide continuity and sightedness to the memory of June 26, 1959, an educational project has been started in 2010 thanks to the intuition of Alberto Colombo supported by Beato Contardo Ferrini Institute and by the Municipality of Olgiate Olona. The project is addressed to the students in the eighth-grade of Dante Alighieri school and consists of: a multimedia conversation in the classroom about the historical fact and the commemorative events, dialog with the students, screening of the video of song Olgiate Olona, 26 Giugno 1959 composed by Nicola Puddu; production of a work written in Italian language follows. The works in poetry and prose are received anonymous; then they are selected and judged by a jury outside the school; the most deserving works - those which best reflect the historical fact and the commemorative events - are rewarded during the commemoration of June the 26. Because of their exceptional nature, some works received a Special award offered personally by Alberto Colombo with the authorization of Olgiate Olona mayor.

Works awarded school year 2017-2018
In 2018, the educational project in memory of the plane crash was addressed to all the 103 students in the eighth grade of Dante Alighieri school. The following are the translations of the works rewarded during the commemoration of June 26, 2018.
First classified, the poem Stelle che illuminano la notte by SILVIA GALLAZZI:
Stelle che illuminano la notte
(stars that light up the night)
70 hearts
70 souls,
70 stars that light up the night
70 bunches of flowers, now are lying on your hearts,
endless dreams, still waiting for coming true,
a fatality,
a place,
insignificant for all of you,
turned into a home where to find consoling tears
and prayers that make souls milder,
it was a flight full of hopes,
it was a minute full of fear,
so many thoughts in a single moment...
But we will not forget,
that fatal day, afterwards anything was no longer the same.
Second classified, the poem 70 vite in cielo riunite by MARGHERITA GENNARO:
70 vite in cielo riunite
(70 lives in the sky reunited)
It was one of the 70 lives
who reunited in the sky.
He was a child
and he did not know that Heaven was so close.
He was a dad
and he hoped that his happiness would not disappear like that.
He was a pilot
flying towards the unknown destination.
They were young or old people
deprived of their tomorrow.
I am a girl who wants to pray
for those who perished on that day.
History cannot be changed,
but we cannot forget it,
to give these souls
an immortal life.
Third classified, the poem Mary by ALICE PIATTONI:
Mary
My flight is not finished,
it has just begun indeed.
I was told:
«Be careful and don’t worry, Mary,
we will be there waiting for you».
A different destiny, instead,
was waiting for us,
it made my little heart stop.
Seventy lives including mine,
but it’s too early and I don’t want to leave.
My heart stopped
with a big noise...
Now I’m flying just the same
and I’m slight,
I’m going towards the light
even if it’s evening.
That light is eternal love.
And I will watch over everyone,
whether it’s spring, summer, autumn or winter.
